Urgent Request – Ed Hassertt *Updated

by Wanda Short on July 7, 2010

Hey everyone, this is an urgent request for prayer for a fellow Prayer Warrior – Ed Hassertt.

He suffers physically due to a degenerative nerve condition from military service accompanied by severe arthritis and chronic severe pain which causes occasional paralysis and weakness and the level of pain has increased tremendously over the last 2 months. The last few days he has had a fever and swelling especially in his face and neck.

Yesterday the fever broke but the swelling and inflammation was really extremely pronounced (he sent me a picture) and he finally stopped being stubborn and allowed his friends to take him to the Emergency Department last night. He was admitted to St. Joseph’s Peace Hospital shortly thereafter due to a Staph infection (they ran cultures to check for MRSA which is a resistant and very dangerous strain of Staph but they take a couple days to grow out) and the doctors told him that if he had waited another day or two the infection could have reached his brain. He is on IV antibiotics and resting ok.

Please be in prayer that the infection responds well to the antibiotics and that it is not MRSA. Also that he is able to have some pain relief while in the hospital and that the doctors might even be able to address his increased level of pain from the nerve condition.

UPDATE 7/7 (am) – Thank you to all who are in prayer. Ed was able to get a few hours rest and is on his third round of antibiotics. A CT Scan this morning showed no abscesses (praise God) so they are trying to get the infection under control. He is still in pain but not quite as much so please continue to keep him in your prayers today especially.

UPDATE: 7/7 (pm) Ed was started on yet another IV antibiotic this afternoon and he still has an incredible amount of swelling  and inflammation in his face.  Please pray for healing and that his pain is better controlled and that the doctors are able to address his increased level of pain from his degenerative nerve disease while an inpatient.  Still waiting for the blood tests to show any specific pathogen causing the infection.

UPDATE: 7/8 (am) Ed’s WBC (white blood count) is coming down so the antibiotics appear to be doing their job!

UPDATE: 7/9 (am) The swelling and inflammation is slowly receding and the infection appears to finally be under control.  Ed was able to get a few short hours of sleep this morning and is hoping to get the news today that he can be discharged.

UPDATE: 7/9 (pm) Great news!  Ed is being discharged this evening at 6pm PST!  He has had a rough day today due to the last 3 rounds of antibiotics and anticoagulants but will be more comfortable at home.

Thanks and blessings. w

Hi Wanda,

Thanks for the word on Ed. He will be in my prayers.

My husband went through something similar very recently. He was bitten by what we believe was a spider and he ended up in the hospital for over a week. Thankfully the doctor decided to perform surgery to remove the infection which, THANKFULLYdid not turn out to be MRSA. I didn’t know at the time, but at one point they seriously considered removing his arm because of the spread of the infection but the intraveneous antibiotics started working and the swelling and infection began to recede. He is home now and doing well, expected to return to work in a couple weeks. Thank God.

All that to say, having just gone through this with my husband, I am extremely concerned for Ed. Please let him know my prayers are with him.

So glad he took the advice to go to the hospital. Ed’s a stubborn one, he is !! Now he’s in the hands of professionals and the PRO Himself, the Lord.
“Dear Lord, please keep Ed in your watchful eye and protective hand. Please give the doctors wisdom in treating Ed, and allow him a thorough healing and a quick recovery. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”

Hi:
I am currently listening to Ed Hassertt on AD70 podcast and heard him refer to his illness. I will definitely be praying for him. I too have a chronic pain condition which I have suffered for my whole life, but which gets worse as I age, so I understand what Ed is experiencing. To make a long story short, I am losing the ability to walk do to multiple spinal prablems.) I have been on 250 mg/day of morphine for over 10 years to deal with my pain, and am searching for a way to get off that, as it is destroying my body. Recently I came upon a product (my son actually found it as he is trying to help me get well) called Miracle Mineral Supplement. This destoys all pathogens and originally was used to treat malaria. I believe this would help Ed. If you think he would be interested in researching it, here is a link. http://www.earthclinic.com/Supplements/MMS3.html
I have heard other personal positive testimonies regarding this “miracle water” and am attempting to treat myself with it as well. I am sure he gets huge numbers of people suggesting this cure or that cure. But please, at least read up on this and then make an educated decision. In the end, of course we know, Jesus is our healer. Amen? Many blessings to all.
Marlene
